APANA Sydney has been a seperate region of APANA since 1993 (see note below for more background info).

We provide email/shell login accounts along with website/domain hosting and associated support services to both individuals and non-profit organisations for non-commercial use. APANA Sydney is one of the few organisation in Australia that actually offers Unix login accounts to members!

Basic membership of APANA is $12 per year. Our website hosting and email/shell account are both priced at a very reasonable $75 per year each with a once-off $49.50 joining/setup fee. There are no hidden fees or charges.

Website and domain hosting is available to both individuals and non-profit organisations. Along with actually hosting your non-profit website we can also set up and configure DNS records for your website's domain name to manage the forwarding of email, etc..

Our email/shell login account service provides unlimited login access via Secure Shell, along with free POP3 email access for remote email retrieval and sending. Free use of disk space for creating and maintaining a personal web site, and all the usual Unix system services such as ftp, wget, gcc, perl, etc. are standard features.

Hosted websites and personal web sites have no traffic volume limits and full-time access for maintenance and updates (regular server maintenance and unforseen outages excepted!). Please note that contributions for basic APANA membership and our network services are payable annually in advance using various methods of payment including BPAY, etc. Timely payment of your contributions will ensure that APANA Sydney can continue to evolve! Our services are provided to APANA members in good faith. All use of APANA services is governed by the APANA Acceptable Use Policy) and it is expected that members will not deliberately do anything to hinder the experimentation, learning and enjoyment of other members. Notes from above: APANA is the oldest continuously-existing networking support organisation in Australia, having been originally established in Melbourne during 1992. We have been supporting grass-roots computing, IT and networking enthusiasts since before any of the commercial Internet service provision businesses existed in Australia! Yes that even includes BigSwamp! And we have ALWAYS been non-profit. Contribution rates for basic APANA membership and APANA Sydney network services are set in Australian dollars. Payment in other currencies cannot be accepted. APANA Sydney does not directly offer or provide any form of raw Internet access using modems, ADSL, etc. though we may offer wireless network services in the future. We can provide an APANA-allocated IP subnet for DSL services supplied by The Planet for $75 per year. Until 2005 we did offer dial-up and permanent Internet connection services utilising PSTN (Public-Switched Telephone Network) and ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) technologies however it's no longer possible for us to offer those sorts of services at costs which are in-keeping with APANA's aim of operating as a grass-roots non-profit networking support organisation.
