From the start of 2005, 64 Kbps ISDN-based dedicated connections using DoV (aka Data-over-Voice) are now available at the same contribution rate as dedicated connections utilising analog modems!
ISDN-Based Dedicated Connections using Data-over-Voice
An Affordable Alternative Where ADSL is not Available
The contribution rate is $49.50 per month for each 64 Kbps B-channel. For a 128 Kbps connection, you need two B-channels so the contribution rate for a 128 Kbps ISDN-based dedicated connection is a low $99 per month!
This type of dedicated connection requires that a Telstra ISDN Home service to be installed at your location if you don't already have one, and there is a small setup contribution of $49.50 per B-channel which covers our ISP's admin charges for configuring your leased port(s) for ISDN.
Our ISDN-based dedicated connections have no traffic limits just like our analog-modem dedicated connections, and you will automatically be allocated a 3-bit subnet giving you up to 6 real IP addresses that you can use for additional hosts.
Please email us to find out more.
4-bit subnets are available for an additional $25 per year.
From January 1st, 2002, new payment options for APANA Sydney access fees have been introduced. It is now possible to pay Sydney region access fees (for either dedicated connections or normal dial-up access) either annually, half-yearly, or quarterly. Please refer to the network access services page for actual costs.
New Payment Options for Access Fees + Change to Overdue Fee Policy
Important News for All APANA Sydney Members
The $12 APANA national membership fee is still only payable once per year.
If you would like to change your Sydney region network access fee payment option, please email the regional committee. You cannot alter your payment option if any fees are currently overdue... 8-)
The other major change is with the overdue fee policy which until now has not really been 'set in stone' and we've been fairly relaxed about the issue because we like to give you as much time to pay (within reason) as you need. However, with finances being as they are, this unfortunately has to stop, and we will now be asking all of you to be aware of the following guidelines for overdue payments:
We feel this policy is fair and equitable. It's not designed to make us seem like ogre's, but we all have an obligation to pay our membership and other fees on time as much as possible since it helps to maintain the region's cashflow in a positive state. That's crucial to ensuring that we're able to keep bills, etc. paid and up to date.
- - The regional committee will closely monitor for payments which become overdue and contact you (by phone or email) if one of your payments does become overdue for any reason,
- - Once you are contacted by a member of the regional committee you will have one week in which to pay the overdue ammount,
- - If the overdue fee(s) is(are) still not paid after the week has elapsed, your access will be temporarily stopped until the fee(s) is(are) paid, or suitable arrangements are made for payment with the regional committee.

Are Your Details in the Membership Database Correct and Up-to-Date?
Do you think you might be missing important announcments, etc. because we are unable to contact you reliably by email?
If you think you might be missing out on announcements, membership renewal notices, and other important messages which are emailed out to members from time to time, perhaps your details in the membership database are incorrect and not up to date...If the email address where you normally read email is not shown in the database, then you are probably not receiving most, or all, of the email messages that are being sent to you for various reasons. Please contact the Sydney region info officer to ask for your database details to be updated if anything needs to be changed.
