Thankyou to everyone who attended, or intended to attend but offered their apologies, for the member's BBQ/etc. on May 27th.The turnout was quite good, with over a dozen people present during the day. Most of the RC and admin team were there (myself included!), along with some members who make use of the various member-access sites.
The weather held off, despite becoming very cool and windy around 1 pm when we were firing up the BBQ. About half the attendees brought along something to cook, and due to the wind we made use of the table in the loungeroom of the unit where our hub room is located to satisfy our food requirements!
A start was made installing the Netcomm modem racks (two are installed, but only one is powered) thanks to Matthew Geier, David Johnston and Roland Turner. A new patch panel is needed, along with more mounting hardware for the other two working racks, along with more power leads.
Herbert Xu did some work on building new Linux kernels for the machines at the hub - this will result in all three APANA machines at the hub having up to date kernels once the work is completed.
A meeting was held after everyone has finished eating, and it was good to have input from a number of members who aren't on the RC or admin teams to give some fresh perspectives in a number of issues.
We're thinking of holding a BBQ, etc. gathering every 6 months or thereabouts, so look out for announcements about another gathering around Christmas time!
